Santa Barbara Hats

The American Riviera. Santa Barbara hats — SBA and the 805, heat-stamped on full-grain leather, made to order. Wear where you're from.

About Santa Barbara Hats

Santa Barbara is the American Riviera — red-tiled roofs against the Santa Ynez Mountains, the wharf and the wine country, a stretch of coast where the sun and the Spanish revival architecture never seem to quit. The 805 runs up the whole Central Coast.

These Santa Barbara hats carry SBA and the 805, heat-stamped deep into a full-grain leather patch rather than lasered onto the surface. Whether you're from the Mesa, downtown, or somewhere up the coast in the 805, it's a hat that says so. Stamped by hand and made to order, on full-grain leather that only looks better with age.

Common questions about our leather patch hats

FAQ

Where are your hats made?

Every hat is handcrafted to order in small batches. We source premium hat blanks and full-grain leather, then handle the design, cutting, heat-stamping, and assembly ourselves. Small batches, high standards.

Why heat-stamped and not laser-engraved?

We use heated brass dies to press our designs into full-grain leather, creating a deep, detailed impression with natural texture. Unlike laser engraving—which burns the surface and can look flat or scorched—heat-stamping produces a rich, premium look that won't fade or wear away over time. It's the same technique used by traditional leather craftsmen, and it's why our patches stand out.

What type of leather do you use for your leather patches?

We use full-grain leather—the highest quality leather available. Full-grain means the hide's natural surface hasn't been sanded or buffed, so it's stronger, more durable, and develops a natural patina over time. It's the same leather used in premium wallets and belts, and it's why our patches look better the longer you wear them.

What does your lifetime craftsmanship guarantee cover?

We stand behind the quality of our work. If your leather patch peels, cracks, or separates from the hat due to a craftsmanship defect, we'll replace it—no time limit. This doesn't cover normal wear and tear, but it does mean you can trust that your hats are built to last.
